Yes yes Ron, as you can see here I am over 10 days later still not having posted it . Sorry about it, I have tons of movies to review and even started a review for Crash and didn't like what I wrote. Amazingly, it is still playing at the cinemas here, which is testament to how well it is doing and how much people love it. It really should win quite a bit of awards come Oscar and award time next year.
I'm glad your neighbor really loved it, and I will be working to get this site up and running, including move categories and stuff on this forum. I'm adding those today. Leigh is going to help me with getting this skin to match my mambo template on the site itself so the forum isn't so shockingly different, and I have to discuss the random reviews part at the top of the site with Ripta on how I can add those. I'm going to be putting up one wacky contest today that I thought up yesterday and another serious one this week or next, too.
I appreciate the posts Ron to get me off my butt even if I'm still slow in getting there
Reading it brought back some of the same feelings that practically knocked me off my feet when I saw the movie. And yeah, there were actually a couple spots in the movie that got me teary eyed, but I sure know the scene you are talking about... I don't think there was a dry eye in the house after that scene.
Thanks a lot Ron about the site and the review. I still have tons more to do, but I'm pretty happy with how the one for Crash turned out. I used to do these reviews more quickly but now on this site they seem like they need to be more coherent, either that or I'm overemphasizing them more than I should be
Anyway, glad you liked it. I'm going to start making posts for each of the movies and put a link to the forum post in the reviews today (going back for the prior films and doing the ones for each one onward).
Since this is an "official" movie review thread, I hope you don't mind if I post my own personal review. This is what I thought about the movie...
Crash is a deeply emotional movie. In it's most basic form, it is a movie about racial prejudice and hatred, but the way this is presented is extremely powerful. Almost every character displays some form of racial prejudice, extending the gamut from mild to extreme. This is not a light film, and there are no overly simplified characters. No punches are pulled. Characters a shown at their ugliest, and at their best. The movie is a collage of individuals bumping into each other, usually in exchanges of racial bias or hatred, and followed by the reverberations in their and others' lives. The movie weaves backwards and forwards in time creating a powerful collage effect. Loose ends are not neatly wrapped up at the end of the movie. It is left as it was presented, the good and the bad simply existing. It is the world we live in. The movie is an expression of hope though. Coming face to face with the ugliness of their own prejudices, individuals change, not in a fairy tale, happy ending sort of way, but in a real life messy way. On the whole, this was an incredibly powerful movie, and well worth seeing. It was dark, and tender, and painful, and hopeful all at the same time.
Ron, I'm fine that you've posted the review here. If you wanted to post reviews on the main site itself, you could as well even. I think having multiple reviews for the same movie is good actually (gives people more input on the film to make a decision if they want to see it or not).
It would be an honor to have my review on the main site. I did not know I could do that... or how. Feel free to add it, or point me in the right direction and I will add it later.
Ron, I've changed your user group on the Mambo portion to a "publisher", which means you can add reviews. The way you would do this is the following:
1. Log into the site, then click on the "Now Playing" link at the top left. 2. Click on the " 2005 Films" link beneath the movie images (to get to this page directly you could also just bookmark http://ratingbar.com/content/category/1/1/2/) 3. To add a new review, click the "New..." link right above the [Back] link. To edit a prior review of yours, simply click the little edit icon to the right of the title.
As I'd noted to paradox when giving these details for him to add DVD Reviews, reviews you add here will not show up on the 2005 Movies sections as the regular public do not see any of these "2005 Movies, "Films on DVD" and other links at all unless they are admins or publishers due to the fact that I removed the links from showing given I don't want them to see anything other than the picture-based list for movies, which I have to manually create.
Once you add any film reviews, I will go in and add a link for the film. If it is a film like Crash, the link will be inside my review (I'll link it at the top of mine to let people have a chance to view yours instead if they'd like). If it is for a film I haven't reviewed, then I'll add a picture for it and poster and links. I check every day or every other day for new ones added, so you can just add them or let me know you've added, whichever you prefer.
Feel free to add for DVD ones as well since most films I watch are in the theatre rather than on DVD. A good movie to review for DVD might be Hotel Rwanda since I haven't seen it and I wouldn't mind a review on it, too.
If you find that adding your review isn't that easy to do, just let me know as I am more than happy to add it for you as well.
Nice. I like the way you have it set up. Okay, I added the review. The only thing I was unsure of was the intro text versus the main text. I was surprised that the intro text was required but the main text was optional. I hope I interpreted those correctly.
Well, I added it Ron, but if you don't like the way it looks at all just let me know. You can go to my review here to see the link to yours.
Thanks for adding the review as well, it is nice to have more than 1 person's input on these
I think I'll also be adding links to trailers here shortly even though some of these prior movies aren't playing in the theatre since it has taken me so long to get to this point
Oh, as for the intro text, that is when the Newsflashes are used, which I have not displaying on the site. Newsflashes would show just a short text as a lead to interest people in reading the rest. I didn't want those here as I'd rather just straight lead into the full reviews instead.

Yes, once again, I had to make a change to this one. It actually has to have a poll or it can't be included in the Poll User rating bar section (at the bottom beneath my own ratings). Given it is the best movie I've seen this year, that would be a huge loss for it to be missing from there due to no poll , so I had to merge the prior thread into a poll one I created, which is what we have now
I removed my prior post above on this and will repeat it here so as to not appear bizarre. This thread is to discuss the movie, Crash, and the review on it at this location.
Please feel free to provide as much feedback, positive or negative, that your heart desires.
You may now go back to your regular viewing schedule
