Boogeyman
I travelled mid-day February 19 2005 to Sycamore Mall on the far side of Iowa City to see this movie for the 4:50pm timeslot.
At only 86 minutes long, I was worried this horror flick might well turn out to be a loser. Thankfully, for once this year my expectations were not dashed. This film exceeded my projections on its incompetency. The plot was thin, the characters wigged out. The main character especially was not one that you could care about too much since he was jumping or acting bug eyed and insane almost every waking minute.
There were constant eerie and high pitched musical moments scattered throughout the film to lead an air of let down when the confrontation between the Boogeyman and main character does ensue. Along the way, we get people pulled into various closeted devices (cupboards, walk-ins, etc.). The main character is so freaked out by anything closed that his refridgerator in his apartement is see-through glass so the demonic Boogeyman can't hide there one presumes.
Overall, this movie was too long at 86 minutes, the characters too predictable or dense, and the horror not very horrific. After seeing Constantine last night, which was just slightly above average but decent enough, this movie sorely paled in comparison.
Out of the available ratings, this movie earns a terrible (the lowest avaialble rating) hands down and wins the prize of the worst film of 2005 so far.
Please feel free to comment on this review or on the movie itself at the forum thread devoted to it at this location. |
